Using CAE it is possible to predict the energy loads imparted to occupants by simulating the deformation of the instrument panel during collisions. The original design of the panel shows excessive cracking creating dangerous sharp edges that could result in serious injury to vehicle occupants. Prime Polymer recommended adding ribbing to the back of the panel that greatly reduced the likelihood of such a failure. By accurately predicting structural weaknesses before designs are finalized, such analyses can greatly reduce the number of costly molding trials needed to validate a design. Our CAE technology can also analyze aesthetic deformations that may resulting from thermal expansion.
Material is Polypropylene; Weight of the head model is 4.5kg; Collision speed is 7m/sec (about 25km/hr).
